Christian Communities

‘Our way of being the church’

The Small Christian Community is the place where families come together to share the word of God and some other matters of the daily life of faith.

Objectives

1. PRESENCE OF THE CHURCH: The SCC concept is precisely the means by which the one church is present in each locality, touching the whole life of its members.

 2. MATURITY: The church as a family cannot reach her full maturity as church unless she is divided into communities small enough to foster close human relationships …communities which pray and listen to God’s word, learn to live an ecclesial  life, reflect on different problems in the light of the Gospel.  Above all be committed to living Christ’s love for everybody”

 3. PARTICIPATION: The SCC concept is a renewed involvement of Christians and all people of good will in efforts to attain a better society.

 4. CREDIBILITY: The SCC concept is up to date, because the credibility of the proclamation of the Gospel (light to the world) rests on how Christians participate in working for the promotion and empowerment of the well being of humanity: self ministering, self propagating and self sustaining.

 5. WITNESS: SCC concept fosters the first form of evangelisation: Witness to the values of kingdom of God: truth, unity, love, faith, hope, mercy, justice and peace.

 6. CHRISTOCENTRIC: The SCC Concept demonstrates the centrality of Jesus Christ in human life.  For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” (Mat 18,20)
