Fr. Rector - Andrew Reut
The Salesians of Don Bosco first came to Kabwe in 1986 when we took over St Mary’s Parish with its 11 outstations. Due to the lack of personnel the salesian work was mainly concentrated in the parish, though the salesians had always in mind the work with the young people and it was the main challenge since the people of Kabwe were not used to the idea of priests working directly with the young.
On February 1992 Mons. Adrian Mungandu, Archbishop of Lusaka consecrated the new church in Makululu which was build by Fr Joseph Bem. The Salesian Community of Kabwe was officially erected in 2003, under the patronage of Bl Artemide Zatti. In the same year 2003 in June the construction of the new house and the Youth Center began. In November 2006 the Community shifted to the newly build house which was blessed, together with the Youth Center, by Fr. Joseph Czerwinski, Provincial of ZMB Province.
At the moment there three Salesians in the community: Fr Andrew (Rector and Parish Priest); Fr. Zygmunt Labun (Vice Rector and Youth Co-ordinator) and Fr. Andrew Zdzieborski (Assistant Parish Priest).
